David started his tax career with the IRD in 1988 as a law graduate. He subsequently headed the legal services team for the IRD’s Central Region for several years followed by stints in the risk, assessment and policy areas of the IRD. He subsequently joined a “big 4” firm, and then a boutique tax firm.

David has specialised in tax from when he joined the IRD as a law graduate in 1988. Since then he has advised on virtually every aspect of tax law. He also has extensive advocacy experience on behalf of clients with the IRD and before Parliamentary select committees.
